Oh, hear the cries from first-time homebuyers for affordable housing. Life’s tough enough if you’re trying to make it all on your own and be independent. But couple that up with wanting to secure your first home? Ooh, it just got a whole lot harder.
But thanks to the government who has heard our woes, they have come up with various initiatives to aid first-time homebuyers such as the Home Ownership Campaign 2019 and 2020, and the ongoing ones; the MyHome scheme and Rumah Selangorku.
So apa itu Rumah Selangorku?
Rumah Selangorku is a housing scheme based in Selangor for the people who work and stay in the state! This scheme was born with an aim to deliver affordable homes to certain qualified citizens living in Selangor especially since Selangor is one of the most popular states to reside in.
This initiative is led by Selangor’s very own housing organization, Lembaga Perumahan dan Hartanah Selangor (LPHS) who was first introduced in 2014 with a vision that requires developers to build affordable housing as part of their overall project for low and middle-income families. So certain conditions must be met for those who are interested in applying! Here they are as below:
Over 18 years of age
Malaysian citizen
Resident of Selangor
Must not already own a property
Maximum household income of RM10,000
One application per household
Single applicants with dependents may apply
Even with Rumah Selangorku, you need to know your type.
Rumah Selangorku has different unit types that are split into 5 categories, namely known as A, B, C, D, and E with eligibility criteria that depend on your preference and household income. Yes, that also means that if you’re married, LPHS will assess your application based on all of the earnings within the household, including your wife/husband. The both of you will not be able to apply at the same time. Instead, only one application is allowed per household.
The different types of homes include apartments, terraces, and townhouse units. All of which will depend on your household income and unfortunately, you’re not able to pick your favourite property as you’re assessed based on merit.
Type A: A maximum household income of RM3,000/month
Type B, C, D, and E: A household income of RM3,001- RM10,000/month
But do note that Type E is subjected to areas that are under the jurisdiction of different Majlis such as Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ), Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya (MPAJ), and Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya (MPSJ).
For high-rise apartments:
For townhouse and terrace homes:
Now that I’ve got you hooked (especially with the price!), let’s carry on to how you can apply for an RSKU home right over here!
